Does anyone else smell smoke?...

You are some viscious people. I take a small vacation from blogging and the next thing I know, you're all burning Steve in effigy. I think he's gone into hiding. He and Marta have hit the road and no one has heard from them except in quick, cryptic phone calls. So, in the hopes of saving Steve, I will point out, that I could have updated from elsewhere. (Of course this now puts me at risk, doesn't it?) I merely ask that you leave poor Steve alone. In fact, I expect to see several "anonymous" apologize to Steve.

Ok. On to other news. Yes, I have been out and about. I have gone to church, and choir and even to a movie. (Of coarse I brought my minions with me so that they could clean the seats for me. Picture it, I'm standing in the theater in my mask and gloves while a small troup of teenagers clean my seat with wipes and paper towels. ...I looked like the biggest germaphobe EVER)

I'm currently in Boston. Mom and I drove up this evening as I have an early appointment tomorrow with Dr. Soiffer. I also had my last round of IVIG last Wednesday and my counts have been climbing. (Insert cheer here) My last platlet count, as of wednesday, had me at 128...and as I was over 100, I decided to take myself off the yellow paint...I mean the mepron. (Insert another cheer here) Don't worry, I eventually called DFCI and double checked that that was OK.

I have also had several visitors to the house. Although, my most frequent visitor is Caroline. She comes over at least once a week and we go for walks. Of course, she seems to be determined to give Mom a heart attack. Take Elizabeth for a walk in the rain? Check. Bring Elizabeth fresh bakery cookies that she can't eat? Check. Bring Elizabeth back with a tick on her? Check. On the other hand, she has been great to talk to.
I have also had a visit from Allie, Mrs. Miller, Aunt Patty and a call from Meg, a classmate from High School.

Thanks for all the concern, I hope to see you all soon and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Now that she's out and about...

Elizabeth sightings are on the rise! Where'd you see her? Did you get to talk to her? Did you get her autograph?

Tell the world your Elizabeth-sighting story! We all want to know...

Good to see you and mom yesterday, Lizzie. Thanks for your help at the store - let me know if you get any ideas!
Love, E
PS: Keep going out and about! No one thinks you're scary for wearing a mask! :)

I know Elizabeth didn't get to post this weekend, but as she is on her to Boston for another routine appointment with Dr. Soiffer, I wanted to just update you on my mysterious post from Friday and on the comparatively good week she had.
  • Most importantly, the IVIG treatment seems to have been working, so her various blood counts rose throughout the week. For those of you who remember the "at least I'm not bleeding in my head" blog, this is a very encouraging thing! Although she is not yet in the "normal" range, we do pray her counts continue to improve and bring her back within a safe margin.
  • In addition, she ventured out of the house a couple of times last week (with gloves and mask) and even entertained various guests at home, and seems to be warding off the germs of the world, so that is positive as well.
  • Lastly, her doctors seem to have balanced out her meds, so they are not making her sick...either that or she has developed a stomach of steel that can take it. Regardless, nausea and related ailments were not really a factor this week.

So: Thank you, thank you, thank you for the prayers! Say one of those prayers when you get a chance: Thank you God! And keep them coming, as we approach the 75 day mark (that's 3/4 of the way to lifting some of the restrictions and a PET scan!).

Good news.

Elizabeth had good news.

Pester her until she shares it.

(Make it creative, or she'll just get annoyed.)
